Who say’s You Can’t Make money off photography? I’m sorry, did I say photography… I meant photographers.
Photo contests… there are many many out there. What prompted me to write this post was that today alone I received four emails for photo contests in less than an hour (and then a couple more by the end of the day). Most contests charge a hefty per image price just for the honor of being judged and hopefully included as a “winner.” Some contests are good and some are bad (most are bad). These are the contests from PDN alone: Read More…

After the iPad was announced I wrote about the potential for using an iPad as a portfolio… Well now the iPad is here (yes, i was one of the loser dorks standing in line at 6:30am) and I did a quick test with a few images to try it out.
I’m writing this on my iPad, and let me tell you, after only a day of use it’s still a major PITA. And don’t worry, I’m not going to talk about anything other than the iPad’s functionality as a portfolio… I’m quite certain there are thousands of iPad reviews out there by now for all the other stuff.

I’m not big on compositing. I tend to like straight photography (although, now days you never can be too sure). Whenever I see a photographer who does those big time 52 images to make one image, I’m never really impressed. But, a lot of times I’ll go to the “personal work” section of their website and see straight images that I like.

Similar to the image I posted last week (although this one was shot first). I’ve been throwing people up against the wall in my studio lately. Simple enough. I like the look of it. I’ll probably be doing more.

Here are a few shots I liked from today’s shoot. I’d love to have hair like this… even for just a day. Tomorrow I’m up early to shoot for Psychology Today.
