Surfer Portraits

I did a series of surfer portraits as a personal project. What started out as a test of my new camera (Canon 1DS MkII) turned into a little project for myself. I went down to a local surf spot in Santa Cruz California to take some pictures with my new camera so I could get to know it better. Once I got home and started playing with the portraits I took I decided I liked what I saw and started going back to take more.

I can imagine that surfers are wonderful subjects for portraits, there’s always something alive in them, more radiant. It’s there in these shots for sure.
